Elfman’s journey to being one of today’s leading film composers started in the early 1970’s, when he and his older brother started a rock band called Oingo Boingo in Los Angeles, California. It was during this time that he became friends with Tim Burton, who was a fan of Oingo Boingo. Their friendship blossomed and Elfman soon found himself scoring some of the biggest movies in Hollywood. Widely considered the “hottest composer in the business,” he has had numerous successes away from the world of film too. He’s composed some of television’s most loved themes, including The Simpson’s and Desperate Housewives.
