David Fincher Being Eyed to Direct 'World War Z' Sequel
The sequel for World War Z is still in search of a director after Juan Antonio Bayona departed in order to direct the Jurassic World sequel.
Executive producer Brad Pitt is now eyeing David Finch, whom directed the actor in Fight Club, to take the helm on the sequel. The two met two weeks ago to discuss the opportunity.
The production is in talks with other directors, given the poor luck with previous directing options, even as Fincher continues further into negotiations. Pitt and Fincher have done Se7en and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button together, and it's likely Pitt will reprise his role to some extent in the follow-up.
Paramount has the film schedule for June 9, 2017, although the studio will need to seriously fast-forward this pre-production process if they want to hit that deadline. Expect a reschedule, though, because June 9 is always closer than you think in this industry.
