David Thewlis Reportedly Playing the Villain in 'Wonder Woman'
Does it usually take this long before we find out the big bad lead in a superhero film? Nevertheless, while we knew that David Thewlis was in the cast for Wonder Woman, as announced back in November, his role in the film was unclear. He hasn't shown up in any of the promotional material yet, and it looks like it's for good reason.
The Harry Potter alum is reportedly playing Ares via a mix of CGI and practical effects in the blockbuster. Last month news broke out that the god of war is seeking the scientific formulas for a deadly gas with the potential to destroy humanity, which are in the hands of Steve Trevor played by Chris Pine. He's shot down over the ocean and is then rescued by Wonder Woman, thus we now know the inciting incident of the film, and we can probably predict how the first act will shape up.
Wonder Woman arrives in theaters June 2.
