DC Comics TV Properties May Hit Multi-Year Delay Reaching Netflix, Hulu
During a conference call this week, Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes has told investors that the company is considering delaying DC Entertainment TV show arrival times to subscription streaming services.
If the consideration is followed through, then according to The New York Times it would mean episodes would not become available for streaming until "several years after they first air, rather than one year later".
The idea seems to in part stem from the idea that cable On Demand services could keep more episodes in their own backlog, and therefore increasing the value for customers looking to subscribe.
It may be the case that current airing shows Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl might all continue to be provided as they have in recent years, considering there's likely a deal already in place.
Upcoming shows Legends of Tomrorow, Lucifer, and Krypton might all be impacted by the decision, which may devalue subscription streaming for some fans.
