DC Entertainment's TV Universe Continues to Grow
Powerless receives pilot order from NBC
After the bad news of the Teen Titans series not going forward at TNT, NBC has given Powerless a pilot pickup. The half-hour comedy comes from Ben Queen, creator of the delightful rom-com series A to Z, and Warner Bros. Television.
While set in the DC Comics' universe, Powerless will not feature big names like Batman or Superman but instead focus on “the reality of working life for a normal, powerless person in a world of superheroes and villains.” Described as “a workplace comedy set at one of the worst insurance companies in America,” Powerless will have a similar tone to NBC's The Office.
Queen will write and executive produce the single-camera comedy that is not based on a DC comic book. At this time there is no indication if Powerless will crossover with DC Entertainment's established television franchises (Arrow, Gotham, The Flash, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow).
