Director James Mangold Officially Confirms R-Rating for 'Logan'
Despite the fact that it's been touted as r-rated for a while, not to mention its red band trailers in recent weeks, it hadn't been confirmed until now. James Mangold took to Twitter to reveal that the film has now officially been rated R by the MPAA, for “strong brutal violence and language throughout, and for brief nudity.”
The film takes place in a near future in which a weary Logan is caring for a sick Professor X in a hideout on the Mexican Border. A young mutant arrives, and is being pursued by dark forces, leading Logan to take action despite his best attempts to avoid it.
The film is out Mach 3, 2017. Hugh Jackman has suggested that the film takes place in its own continuity separate from the rest of the X-Men films.
