Disney CEO Bob Iger Has "No Plans" to Continue on at Disney beyond 2018
Disney CEO Bob Iger has announced that he currently has no plans to extend his contract beyond June 2018, when it expires.
Iger made the statement on Tuesday when responding to a question during an earnings call with analyst. "The board is very involved in the succession process as it has been for some time and it believes it has ample time to identify a successor," Iger said.
The position is up in the air following chief operating officer Tom Staggs abrupt departure last month, followed by the board's expressing of a lack of confidence in Stagg's leadership ability.
Though the 65 year-old has not outright stated his departure from Disney, his words come in the wake of speculation that the executive would continue in light of the company's lack of a suitable replacement.
