Disney Reaches Expanded Distribution Deal With Playstation Vue
It seems like it was a good day for the Disney/Sony corporate relationship.
Coming off the conclusion of the Disney/Sony feud. It looks like Disney and Sony Pictures' parent organization were hard at another new deal. The newly-acquired FX and National Geographic will join Playstation Vue. Playstation Vue is Sony's OTT streaming service that launched in 2014.
ESPN's new ACC Network will also be joining Playstation Vue. The new distribution deal ensures that the Disney-owned channels will continue to be offered through PlayStation Vue. These channels include ABC, Disney Channel, Disney Junior, Disney XD, Freeform, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, ESPNU, ESPNEWS, ESPN Deportes, ESPN College Extra, ESPN Goal Line, ESPN Bases Loaded, SEC Network, ACC Network, Longhorn Network, FX, FXX, FXM, Fox Life, National Geographic, Nat Geo Wild, Nat Geo Mundo, BabyTV and ABC News Live.
Playstation Vue currently offer over 80 channels. There is a core package with the cost of $54.99. An elite package featuring FXM and Epix Hits for $64.99. The ultra package includes HBO and Showtime for $84.99. These are all monthly plans. There is also a sports add on which includes some rarer ESPN channels as listed above for $10.00 a month.
The service currently has 800,000 subscribers.
