Divergent Finale Finds its New Director
After Robert Schwentke dropped out of The Divergent Series: Ascendant, Lionsgate had to hurry to find a replacement to finish out the series.
Now they've find one. Age of Adaline director Lee Toland Krieger is in negotiations to helm the Shailene Woodley-starring climax to the franchise. Schwentke directed the last two films in the franchise, including the yet-to-be-released Allegiant.
Schwentke's reasons were that he need a break after doing back-to-back films, and no animosity between he and the studio is apparent. Allegiant opens March 18, while Ascendant is currently slated for June 9 of next year.
