Elizabeth Banks To Star As Rita Repulsa In "Power Rangers" Movie
The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Elizabeth Banks has signed on to play iconic Mighty Morphin Power Rangers' villian, Rita Repulsa. In the Power Rangers television series, Rita Repulsa was a humanoid alien witch determined to conquer the earth after a previous failed attempt many years ago.
Lionsgate's big screen version of the popular 1990s television series was written by Ashley Miller & Zack Stentz (X-Men: First Class) and will be directed by Dean Israelite (Project Almanac).
Playing the Power Rangers are relative unknowns RJ Cyler (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl), Becky G (Empire), Ludi Lin (Marco Polo), Dacre Montgomery (Betrand the Terrible) and Naomi Scott (The Martian). No release date was included in the report.
