Famke Janssen has voiced interest in returning to X-Men as Jean Grey
The X-Men franchise seems to have rebooted itself under our noses, in a sense, using a time travel plot to essentially give the franchise a soft restart. This allows two separate versions of Charles and Magneto to appear at once, although those are the only veterans to hold a frequent role in the franchise from the original cast members.
Famke Janssen is one such actor who has been left behind, her character now being played by Game of Thrones' Sophie Turner.
“I’m actually really excited about it [seeing Turner's performance],” she told EW. “And its not the first time obviously that it’s happened. In the X-Men series, they’ve been doing this for years. Although women, it’s interesting because they’re replaced, and the older versions – or more mature, whatever the politically correct version of that is – are never to be seen again.
Whereas the men are allowed to be both ages. Sexism. I think that I should be back along with my younger version and the way that we’ve seen it with Magneto and Professor X.”
The actress has actively offered to reprise her role from the original trilogy of X-Men films. “Yes, I have [asked]. I have not heard any feedback on that, other than total radio silence,” she said.
The allegations are a little alarming, but not all that surprising, particularly given the weight of controversy that's been circling the industry in recent months.
