First look at Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder in 'Destination Wedding'
On paper, 'Wedding' sounds like an intriguing option for a cold day in February on video on-demand. But since we're talking a dramedy featuring Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder a leniency pass will be granted.
Destination Wedding reunites Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder in a story about two emotionally broken individuals - Frank (Reeves) and Lindsay (Ryder) - who take their miserable unpleasantness to a 'destination' wedding. Over the course of a weekend, the two meet and develop a mutual affection despite being repulsed by one another.
Wedding marks the fourth collaboration between Reeves (56) and Ryder (46), who most recently co-starred in The Private Lives of Pippa Lee (2009) and Richard Linklater's A Scanner Darkly (2006). Of course, it was twenty-five years ago the two starred in Francis Ford Coppola's Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992). At the time, Reeves - then 28- was fresh off Bigelow's Point Break and Ryder was 21 and just two years removed from Burton's Edward Scissorhands. My how time flies.
According to the film's producer Robert Jones - "Winona and Keanu are wonderfully skillful actors and their chemistry onscreen truly brings these irascible characters to life. Their unswerving commitment to the project is a testament to both material and director.” I couldn't have stated it any stiffer myself but I can't disagree with the man. Let's hope this one is good!
Destination Wedding is written and directed by '5 to 7' filmmaker (and 'Mad Men' writer) Victor Levin and produced by the same team that brought us Silence, Wind River, and most recently, The Foreigner.
Filming recently wrapped production but no release date has been set.
