First Plot Synopsis for Suicide Squad Teases What to Expect
Since it's first comic-con trailer, Suicide Squad has launched itself into the minds of movie-goers, and is a highly anticipated addition to 2016's blockbuster lineup.
DC Comics, via comicbook.com, has released the first official Suicide Squad synopsis while announcing a new line of statues. The synopsis reads:
It feels good to be bad… Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?
Nothing is really revealed in this, and further elements are kept rather vague (though there's still plenty of time for them to spill the beans on most of what the film will offer via its marketing campaign).
The first suspect for the role of the 'enigmatic, insuperable entity' is obviously the Joker, who hasn't been sighted in any group photos nor has his association with the other characters in the film been made clear. But that's only one of many possibilities, and there's plenty of time left to speculate.
Suicide Squad hits theaters August 5, 2016.
