'Flash Gordon' Movie Takes Another Step Forward With New Screenwriter
It looks like Flash Gordon's return is becoming a reality. Last year, Matthew Vaughn (who directed Kingsman: The Secret Service) reportedly signed on to helm the cult classic. And now I am Legend writer Mark Protosevich has recently announced on his Facebook page (via HitFix) that he will rewrite the script.
"I can't wait to get started and if you're curious about the take? I'm not saying a word," Protosevich wrote. "All I'll say is this - it will be nothing like any version of Flash Gordon you've seen."
An earlier script for the movie was penned by J.D Payne and Alex McKay.
Flash Gordon is a space adventure based on a comic strip that was created by Alex Raymond in 1934. Gordon and his companions, Dale Arden and Dr. Zarkov, fight against the tyrant Ming The Merciless on the planet Mongo. The comic has been adapted into several TV series, an animation and a popular 1980's film starring Sam Jones, Max Von Sidow and the unforgettable Brian Blessed.
