Fox Dates Two New Marvel Movies, Pulls Gambit from 2016 Release
Gambit is certainly having some poor fortune trying to get off the ground, ironically not unlike Deadpool a few years back now. With threats from star Channing Tatum that he'd walk from the film, to director Rupert Wyatt actually walking from the film, 20th Century Fox hasn't handled the solo film quite as deftly as they'd like.
While they did gain director Doug Liman to direct, the films October 2016 release date had begun to feel impossible. And now, the film has been pulled from the 2016 release schedule, and has yet to been re-dated.
In its wake, two mystery Marvel films have been added to the October 6, 2017 and January 12, 2018 time slots. The first faces up against The Jungle Book: Origins, while the second sees a shared date with the kind-of anticipated Blade Runner sequel.
The easy assumption is that one of these dates belongs to the Deadpool sequel, and the other to either an X-Force film or the next X-Men franchise film. Or it could be none of these things, and we'll be in for a surprise whenever they feel like sharing.
