Gambit to Have Different Tone and Feeling to X-Men Films
Channing Tatum has previously said that Gambit will not be a film about a hero saving the world. Producer Simon Kinberg has now revealed that the tone of the film will fit in with Remy LeBeau's criminal past.
Kinberg said "the X-Men movies are dramatic and almost operatic. Gambit will have its own different flavour and tone to it. [It] will be more of like a heist movie and a sexy thriller, in a way."
There's certainly plenty of sex appeal in both the fictional character and in the man set to play him. And considering that all of the previous X-Men films (and most superhero films in general) are focused on global-scale near apocalyptic events, it will certainly be a nice breath of fresh air to get away from that.
While referring to Gambit as a heist film might conjure up comparisons to Ant-Man, the two films will likely be very different. The X-Men line is portrayed with a lot more darkness and grit, where Ant-Man was quite laid back and 'fun'.
Initially scheduled for October 6 2016, the producer has announced that production delays have pushed it right back, most likely to a 2017 premiere date.
