'Game of Thrones' Season Six's Penultimate Episode is the Highest Rated TV Show Ever on IMDB
Sunday's episode of Game of Thrones was perhaps one of the biggest and best in the show's storied history. That being said, it might come as a surprise to see that Season six, episode nine, titled "Battle of the Bastards," is the highest ranked episode of television ever on IMDB's Top 100 episodes of all time.
The episode sidestepped the show's usual M.O., as it usually does for this kind of episode, and instead of following the various characters in the various places opted to spend three quarters of its time in one place, and the remainder of it (being the opening 15 minutes of the episode) on another battle on the other side of the globe.
Two other episodes of Game of Thrones sit in the top ten of IMDB's 100 best episodes, with "The Rains of Castamere" and "Hardhome" earning their place in the ranks. "Battle of the Bastards" and "Hardhome" were both directed by Miguel Sapochnik, who will surely be on close watch from the powers that be in the feature film world.
With the finale coming up, as usual it will look to deal with the calm following the storm, and fans will be set back on that familiar course of waiting. But, as they say, Winter is coming, and the show's endgame seems as though it is upon us now.
