'Game of Thrones' Will Officially End After 8 Seasons
While the creators of HBO's Game of Thrones have been claiming that we're entering the home stretch, and the final two seasons, of the show, we'd heard little out of HBO to suggest this was concrete.
Of course, it was all but set in stone, and HBO has now confirmed that season 8 will be the final year for one of the biggest shows ever on television.
“Yes. they have a very specific plan about the number of seasons they want to do,” president of programming Casey Bloys said. “Believe me, as the new [programming executive] coming in, if I could get them to do more, I would take 10 more seasons. But we take their lead on what they think they can do the best version of the show.”
Bloys did add that talks have been had regarding a spin-off of some sort. “We’ve talked about it, it’s something I’m not opposed to, but of course it has to make sense creatively.
" I’m not sure that the guys could really wrap their heads around it when they’re just about to start production. It’s a pretty intense production, they’re about to start production soon. I’m open to it. The guys weren’t opposed to it, but there’s no concrete plans for it at this point.”
