'Game of Thrones' Wins the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series
Game of Thrones is an award-winning giant, and it continues to live up to that title with a second consecutive win, deemed the best of the best in the Outstanding Drama Series category.
The series received 23 nominations for this year's awards, and 106 over its six year life-span. The show won the award from nominees The Americans, House of Cards, Downton Abbey, Better Call Saul, Mr. Robot, and Homeland.
Showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss thanked George R.R. Martin upon receiving the award. "We are standing up here becasue George R.R. Martin created the world we all live and play in," they said.
