Geoff Johns Teases Big Plans for Scrapped Teen Titans Series

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell The first misstep (though that may be the wrong word) in DC's otherwise stellar TV track record was the initially planned Teen Titans live action series from TNT, which fell through due to an apparently lackluster script.

TNT's chief creative officer Kevin Reilly said at the time that they didn't want to take such a risk on a sub-par script in such an over-saturated market, which makes complete sense. However, DC hasn't scrapped the concept entirely, and promises plans for the project.

In an interview with TV Line, DC Entertainment chief creative officer Geoff Johns revealed that they had known about the decision for a while. "We have known about [Turner nixing Titans] for months and months and months. That's not news to us."

Johns continued on to say "We have plans for Titans. It's a huge piece of DC and we have plans." This should rekindle some of that faith fans may have lost toward ever seeing the Teen Titans come to life outside of the comics.

TNT's TItans pilot was written by Oscar-winner Akiva Goldsman and Marc Haims, and was rumoured to be called Blackbirds. Plenty other rumours indicated Dick Grayson, famously the first Robin and later Nightwing, and Barbara Gordon (the first Batgirl, before becoming Oracle after a spinal injury), among others.

Johns statement isn't clear, though it leaves plenty of possibilities. The project may become a slated DC film later down the line, in 2020 perhaps. It could also replace the planned Cyborg solo film. Or the TV series may seek another writer and distributor.
