'Gotham' Adds 'The Walking Dead' Actor to Play the Mad Hatter
With a slew of new castings for the upcoming season of Gotham, which is set to follow-up a sophomore year that many regard as a monumental improvement over season 1, the next to join the cast is a new villain straight out of Underworld... and Arkham Asylum.
Benedict Samuel, who played a role in the first half of The Walking Dead's sixth season, will play Jervis Tetch, the hypnotist who happens to have an obsession with the Mad Hatter and his Alice from the fabled tale.
Given Samuel's work, albeit brief, on The Walking Dead, this seems like spot-on casting. The actor certainly pulled off a manner of unsettling creepiness, and should slot into this role comfortably enough. A press release accompanies the news:
DC villain Jervis Tetch is a talented hypnotist teetering on the edge of madness. He arrives in Gotham with an unwavering desire to find his sister, Alice, a young woman who went missing in the city years ago. It is anyone’s guess just how far down the rabbit hole he’s willing to go in order to find her.
