'Green Lantern Corps' Adds Writers David S. Goyer and Justin Rhodes
Green Lantern is assuredly in the masterplan at Warner Bros. and DC, and now Green lantern Corps, which is still slated for release some time in 2020, has two writers attached to bring back into the spotlight the famed space-set superhero. Man of Steel's David S. Goyer and Justin Rhodes will co-write the script, while Goyer is producing alongside Geoff Johns and Jon Berg.
The new film is described as "Lethal Weapon in space," set to focus on Hal Jordan and John Stewart, two Green Lanterns well known to comic book audiences. Don't expect any word on who will play these characters just yet. The script is, hopefully, the top priority right now. This follows, of course, the 2011 disaster starring Ryan Reynolds. It was intended as a franchise kick-off, but ended up being anything but.
Goyer helped shepherd Man of Steel into existence alongside Christopher Nolan, but was overlooked for script duties on Batman v Superman and Justice League (a job that went to Chris Terrio). He's currently developing TV series Krypton, designed as a sort of prelude to Superman based on his doomed race.
Wonder Woman drops this year, as well as Justice League, while in the coming years there's also Aquaman, The Flash, Justice League Part 2, and so on. We won't be starving for superheroes by the time Green Lantern Corps reaches theaters.
