'Green Lantern Corps.' May Feature 3 Human Characters in Lead Roles
With Justice League filming underway, the one character that will be missing come late 2017 is Green Lantern, whose been seemingly given as much time to hibernate as possible in order to distance itself from the Ryan Reynolds-starring film from a few years back.
Latino-Review are reporting that, while Green Lantern Corps is still some time away, three human Lanterns are being said to appear. These characters are Hal Jordan, John Stewart, and Kyle Rayner.
Warner Bros. is looking for an actor in the age range of about 45 for the role of Jordan, while the other two will be younger. While Jordan and Stewart have been headlined in the recent past, Kyle Rayner is a surprise reveal, though the character has become a fan-favourite since his introduction back in 1994.
Rayner is Mexican-American, while John Stewart is African-American, so there's an opportunity for DC to instill some diversity in the wake of whitewashing criticisms in Hollywood that have cropped up as of late.
Green Lantern Corps is slated for June 19, 2020, so any news at this stage should be taken with a grain of salt. In any case, its exciting to hear that plans are going ahead for the space police.
