Guy Ritchie to Direct Disney's Upcoming Live-Action Remake of 'Aladdin'
Guy Ritchie is set to direct the live-action iteration of Walt Disney Studios' Aladdin, the 1992 animated hit starring the voice of Robin Williams.
The film will take a non-linear narrative route, according to THR. Dan Lin (The Lego Movie) is producing under his Lin Pictures banner. Ritchie's previous directorial efforts have been somewhat mixed, but have always made money, from his Sherlock Holmes films to his The Man from U.N.C.L.E. reboot, which arrive last year.
Aladdin spawned two direct-to-video sequels as well as a TV series. Should the live-action attempt prove successful, there's plenty more material to draw from. It joins a number of Disney projects as they launch a new wave of live-action remakes, from The Jungle Book and Pete's Dragon to the upcoming Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King.
