Harry Potter Alum Jim Broadbent Joins 'Game of Thrones'
Game of Thrones begins its casting for the penultimate season with Jim Broadbent of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince fame joining the series in a mystery role.
Known for the above film, as well as Iris (for which he won an Oscar), Gangs of New York, Cloud Atlas, and Legend of Tarzan, the actor becomes one of a number of Harry Potter alumni to jump from the one fantasy series to the other, though Thrones makes Harry Potter look rather juvenile (apart from the first three films, which actually were).
EW reports that the actor will play a significant role, and a theory among Redit users believes he will be playing a maester, which could put him right in line with Sam's subplot as he begins the rigorous training at the Citadel.
We're sure to find out more as the series heads toward production on season 7.
