Has Ridley Scott Renamed his Prometheus Sequel Again?
It's hard to tell whether Ridley is having a ball playing the media, or whether he simply can't make up his mind when it comes to his Prometheus sequel.
Speaking with Scot Foundas at the AFI Film Festival, Scott explained that he doesn't plan his line of projects, instead he goes "from pillar to post randomly".
In that discussion, The Martian came up. Scott explained that he was planning (and struggling) with the screenplay for the Prometheus sequel when a phone call clued him into an already completed script for an adaptation of the book.
The rest is history, but in the explanation he did say this: "I was going to be doing what will be called Alien: Covenant, which starts shooting next February..."
It certainly seems as though the title has changed, though whether this title was always the one is hard to tell. Scott may have simply referred to its old working title without realising, but really, who knows at this stage.
Whatever it is, it will open May 30, 2017, so there's time for plenty more title changes in the meantime.
