‘Game of Thrones - The Last Watch’ full-length documentary premieres on HBO
Hopefully cooler heads prevail tonight
Check out the trailer below
After eight years, seventy-three episodes, and countless water cooler post-mortems, our Game of Thrones watch concludes with an exclusive two-hour documentary titled - Game of Thrones: The Last Watch.
British filmmaker, Jeanie Finlay will direct what HBO describes as a "funny, heartbreaking story, told with wit and intimacy, about the bittersweet pleasures of what it means to create a world - and then have to say goodbye to it.”
Finlay, according to HBO, was given unprecedented access “from the trenches of production, following the crew and the cast as they contend with extreme weather, punishing deadlines and an ever-excited fandom hungry for spoilers.”
Speaking of fandom. It’s not for me to say whether or not one season (much less a culmination of seasons) should tarnish the entire legacy of Game of Thrones. Which, if you were to ask me, my answer is a resounding “hell no”. But who says we have to agree on everything?
But if anything, I’m hoping tonight’s two-hour special will serve as an axiom that leans hard on the dedicated cast and crew who contributed to a global footprint that will undoubtably unfold in years to come. Based on the trailer footage, it appears we are in for a treat.
Game of Thrones: The Last Watch premieres tonight at 9:00 est on HBO
