"He likes to psychologically get in there" - what the set was like for Suicide Squad
During an interview with Buzzfeed, comedian and actor Ike Barinholtz discussed his experience on the set of Suicide Squad, under the intense direction of David Ayer.
Without exploring the goings on during production of the film, Barinholtz described David Ayer as "very dark".
"He chases that real darkness and says crazy things to you before a take to get your head spinning. He likes to psychologically get in there. He would tell us, you know on Fury, right before a scene, 'I almost got Shia [LaBeouf] and [Jon] Bernthal into a fistfight'. And [I'm] like, I don't want to do that!
"But he gets great performances out of actors." Barinholtz himself plays an unspecified role in the film, and could well be taking a detour away from his comedic roots. He was unwilling to share any details with Buzzfeed either, though he explained it with a sinister tongue.
"I have David Ayer in my head being like, 'I'm going to kill you if you say anything'. I can say it's probably not who you think it is. I can say that he's definitely someone that people will not like, and he is someone who likes to really mess with people."
Suicide Squad arrives on August 5, while a new trailer is set to release very soon.
