Heroes Reborn Will Not Be Getting a Second Season
Despite the excitement of fans when Heroes Reborn was announced, it turns out the series was much more of a limited event than anyone might have expected.
NBC is bringing the show to an end after a solitary season. According to THR, NBC Entertainment chairman Bon Greenblatt confirmed that the drama was only getting the one season during an appearance at the Television Critics Association Winter press tour.
He also stated that it was always the plan. "That was always the plan, unless Tim woke up one day and said, 'Oh, I have another chapter to tell.'" Creator Tim Kring had said in the past that Reborn would be a close-ended series, even if the franchise itself might come back.
"It feels like it can be rebooted, relaunched and recast as a franchise more than just an ongoing saga with the same characters," he said, due to its basic premise and the continual need for ordinary people to rise up as heroes in modern pop culture.
So it may return one day, but probably not too soon. The series concludes on January 21.
