'Homeland' Season 6 Will Feature a Female President
Is Homeland predicting the future with this announcement? Homeland is returning to home soil for season six, and will take place during the presidential election period.
Via Variety, the plot will focus on "a female president-elect navigating the transitional period between Election Day and the inauguration." Star Claire Danes and EP/director Lesli Linka Glatter revealed as such during a Q&A.
Danes did emphasise that it wouldn't be a Hillary Clinton carbon copy. Instead, it will be "a composite of all the difference cadidates," a politician who "challenges the norms [and] is a little scary for that reason."
While this isn't new to television, it gives us some insight as to where things will sit in Homeland as the sixth season kicks of. The new season won't air until 2017, though Showtime is close to renewing the show for two more seasons, taking it to at least an eight-year lifespan.
