'Homeland's' Navid Negahban Joins Chris Hemsworth in Afghanistan War Drama 'Horse Soldiers'
Navid Negahban will join Chris Hemsworth in the Afghan war pic Horse Soldiers, which hails from Black Label Media and Jerry Bruckheimer Films.
Additional members of the cast include Michael Shannon, Ben O'Toole, and Trevante Rhodes. The film will be directed by Nicolai Fuglsig from a script co-written by Peter Craig and Ted Tally.
The film is based off a book that follows a U.S. special forces team and their captain as they are dispatched into the mountainous region of Afghanistan in the weeks following 9/11. Doug Stanton's book details the soldiers' attempts to join forces with a Northern Alliance warlord to fight against overwhelming odds to drive out the Taliban. Lionsgate heads foreign distribution.
