How Did C-3PO Get A Red Arm?
Spoilers from Marvel's C-3PO #1 ahead.
In C-3PO's first ever solo comic we find out the answers to the questions we were asking from The Force Awakens. C-3PO and his red arm it totally changed his appearance! The movie failed to answer how he got the red arm. Now we finally know.

The story of the comic is when many of the Resistance leaders go missing, including Admiral Ackbar, C-3PO and other droids have to get OMRI, a First Order droid to a meeting between him and the Resistance. During the journey the droids encounter many threats. Leaving OMRI and C-3PO alone and to make matters worst. A Acid rain storm starts and a shark creature tears C-3PO's arm off. OMRI and C-3PO build a relationship, and OMRI is programmed to be bad. OMRI decides to override his programming to side with C-3PO. OMRI gives the locations of the missing Resistance leaders. Then OMRI makes the ultimate sacrifice to save his friend C-3PO.
C-3PO is then saved by BB-8 and Poe Dameron. The only thing left of his fallen friend OMRI is a red arm. Ironically, the red arm is the arm C-3PO needed. The once golden droid uses the red arm as a tribute to his fallen friend OMRI.
There should be more information on this story once the game, LEGO: Star Wars: The Force Awakens video game comes out.
