Screenwriter Derek Kolstad Returns For 'John Wick 3'
In the hierarchy of film news, screenwriter announcements don’t exactly yield the amount of click-thru’s as a Keanu Reeves John Wick headline. But if you’re reading this, it’s more than likely you have a vested interest in seeing the creative team behind John Wick and John Wick: Chapter 2 assemble for ‘John Wick 3.’ As THR was first to report, Derek Kolstad, creator and writer of both John Wick films has officially signed on to write the script for ‘John Wick 3.’
News of Kolstad's return comes shortly after series director Chad Stahelski recently confirmed details about 'John Wick 3,' including plans for expanding John Wick’s mythology. While the success of John Wick is in part a collaboration of efforts from Thunder Road Pictures, Stahelski (and David Leitch), and Keanu Reeves, it's Derek Kolstad's 2012 script "Scorn," a film about a contract killer coming out of retirement to seek vengeance that serves as the origin's lynchpin.
As 'John Wick 3' starts production this fall, the question remains, just how exactly will John "kill them all?" We'll leave that up to Kolstad and Stahelski.
