Idris Elba in Talks to Star in Romance 'The Mountain Between Us'
Idris Elba is in negotiations to lead in the upcoming romantic drama The Mountain Between Us, which previously had Charlie Hunnam and Rosamund Pike in starring roles.
Directed by Hany Abu-Assad, the project is being produced by Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping via Chernin Entertainment.
The project is based on the 2010 bestselling novel by Charles Martin, which chronicles a surgeon and a woman who fall in love after being stranded in the aftermath of a place crash. They must traverse the wilderness and find their way out, dealing with injuries suffered in the crash and temperatures that drop into the teens at night.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story writer Chris Weitz penned the most recent draft, earlier ones of which were written by Mills Goodloe and Scott Frank. Elba can next be seen in July's Star Trek Beyond, where he appears as the villain Krall.
