Image Comics Series 'Black Magick' Gets a TV Option

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell Image Comics is a breeding ground for creator owned breakouts, and many of these great new comic book series are being adapted as the industry's eyes open further to spot uncharted territory that lies beyond the superhero tent-pole.

From notoriously consistent writer Greg Rucka and artist Nicola Scott, Black Magick becomes the latest such comic book to get a television option. Groundswell Productions has requested the rights from the creators to develop an ongoing series.

“Greg and Nicola have created an indelible small town character and put her at the center of a gripping mystery driven by a fresh take on the mythology of witchcraft. Our plan is to find a world class creator who can realize their vision for series and then take it to the cable and streaming networks," said Groundswell's Michael London.

The series follows Rowan Black, a robbery and homicide detective in a fictional port city who is pulled back into a past life of chaos as she discovers the truth behind her own identity, and the truth behind who she'll become.
