Is Keanu Reeves finally up for Speed 3?

With his new film 'John Wick' about to be released in cinemas, Keanu Reeves has been doing the usual media rounds of interviews to promote the film. An interview with Nerdist revealed that Reeves may well be up for a third instalment of the much liked Speed.

The original Speed was released in 1994 and came during a period of cinema history when action films such as Die Hard, Terminator and Lethal Weapon where surefire box office hits, and Speed was no different.

Made for $30million, it grossed $350million worldwide and Speed became a phenomena, making Reeves a huge star. Like most studios inferably do, a sequel (Speed 2: Cruise Control) followed a few years later. Speed 2 couldn't live up to its older brother's standards being certified a dud. Luckily for Reeves, he decided not to return for the sequel with Jason Patric taking the lead and steering it into a dead end.

For the past twenty years, Reeves has been endlessly asked if he would ever make a third Speed movie with his answer always being a firm no. That was until Nerdist asked him that very same twenty year old question, but this time, his answer was shockingly positive.

Here's what Reeves had to say;
'Oh my god, Speed 3: Redemption. Sure. Jack Traven kind of like, dusting it off.'

Now, to be clear, this in no way implies Speed 3 is in the pipeline! A screenplay hasn't been written, a storyline hasn't been pitched to any studio and no one has signed any sort of paper regarding anything toward the possibility of this movie happening. All this means is maybe (and we emphasised maybe) Keanu Reeves could be interested in such a thing.

One big sticky problem could be getting Sandra Bullock to return. If they try to go down the route of reuniting the original cast, they could face troubles. Bullock is about as much of a guaranteed box office draw as you can get in Hollywood today, so for her to sign on to this film, that screenplay would have to be pretty hot.
