Is there a Battlestar Galactica movie in the works?

Initially planned some years back for Bryan Singer to direct, Universal is moving forward with their big screen reboot of the Battlestar Galactica franchise. Transcendence writer Jack Paglen has been hired to provide the script. Paglen is no stranger to science fiction. In addition to the upcoming Transcendence, he's drafted Ridley Scott's still-untitled sequel to Prometheus.

Battlestar Galactica was originally created by Glen A. Larson and began with the TV series in 1978, followed by a brief sequel TV series, Galactica: 1980 two years later. Ronald D. Moore and David Eick launched a rebooted television version in 2004, while a prequel to that series, titled Caprica, debuted in 2010, followed by a webseries, Blood & Chrome, in 2012.

So far details are sketchy for Battlestar Galactica, but it has been said that Universal will be rebooting the franchise from scratch and that the film will not take place within the continuity of either the originals series or the more recent reboot.
