Issa Rae Signs First-Look Deal at HBO
Issa Rae, who co-created and is executive producing (as well as starring in) HBO's upcoming comedy series Insecure, has signed a first-look producing deal at the network.
The two-year pact ensures Rae will develop programming focused on diverse voices to target all of HBO's platforms.
Insecure premieres on October 9, and follows the friendship between two modern-day black women, with Rae starring alongside Yvonne Orji, and their uncomfortable experiences and racy tribulations.
Similar themes were tackled in Rae's successful web-series, The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl. This won a Shorty Award.
