Iwan Rheon to Star in Marvel's 'Inhumans' TV Series
Game of Thrones' infamous villain Iwan Rheon, whose role of Ramsay Bolton on the HBO series provided one of the most long-awaited death scenes the show has seen, has been cast to star in Marvel's upcoming Inhuman series.
Marvel.com informs that Rheon will play the role of Maximus. Described as such: “Marvel’s Inhumans” will explore the never-before-told epic adventure of Black Bolt and the royal family. In the series, Maximus is a clever and charming Inhuman that is fiercely devoted to the people of Attilan, especially his brother, the King – although he harbors an intense desire to wear the crown himself.
The eight-episode first season will premiere its first two episodes on IMAX theaters in the fall before moving to broadcast television, which marks an inaugural attempt at such a debut. Roel Reine is directing.
Jeph Loeb, Head of Marvel Television and Executive Producer said of the casting, “Iwan’s ability to be charming, roguish, and still completely unexpectedly dangerous were all the different sides we needed to bring the character to life. We’re thrilled to have him on board”
This latest ABC Marvel series is foregoing the standard 20-plus episode order for Inhumans, and is instead seemingly looking to create a distinctly unique show. It's an ambitious move for the network, and one that could pay off.
