James Wan to Direct the First Episode of 'MacGyver'
CBS' new series MacGyver, which re-imagines the 1985 series for a new generation, is set to make a bang with its pilot, with original director James Wan taking the helm.
With The Conjuring 2 having been in post-production, Wan could not initially direct the pilot, who was subsequently replaced by David Von Ancken.
Since then, the original pilot was scrapped in favour of a new take and script (from Hawaii Five-O showrunner Peter Lenkov). In the new rendition, MacGyver creates a clandestine organization within the U.S. government, using his unconventional talents and knowledge base to save lives.
Wan will executive produce alongside his directing duties, joined by Lenkov, Henry Winkler, Lee Zlotoff, and Michael Clear for CBS Television, in association with Lionsgate.
