Jesse Eisenberg Talks Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell Lex Luthor, played by Jesse Eisenberg, is a curious character in Batman v Superman. Without spoilers, he's a multifaceted character that may or may not click depending on the viewer.

Jesse Eisenberg has a solid understanding of this universe's Lex, naturally, describing him as the "classic Xenophobe".

"He's hell bent on getting this alien destroyed," Eisenberg told THR. "It's not based on somebody in particular, although I think if you watch the movie and looked for real-life parallels, you might find them."

Lex Luthor on the page is presented as a philanthropist, a charitable man whose goal below his goodwill nature is to destroy the man of steel himself. "I think of the character more as a very emotional man but on behalf of no one else, on behalf of his own emotion," Eisenberg says of the psychopath.

"Although he has a charming public front, I think the average person would be able to figure out that he's pretty evil. I don't think he has that good of a cover... He talks about the abuse he suffered as a child. And in some kind of perverse Freudian parallel, relates Superman's power with his own father's power, and in some really dark way confuses the two."
