Jesse Eisenberg Talks Lex Luthor in Upcoming Batman v Superman
Before the hair's all gone, we'll see a different kind of Lex Luthor when Jesse Eisenberg takes the stage in next month's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Talking with Playboy, Eisenberg explored his Lex as a different approach to the character, and how he fits into the modern cinematic world. "The character is in line with what audiences want to see now, which is a more modern, psychologically realistic concept of Lex Luthor," the actor said.
"His motivations are multifaceted; he has a way of using language that's specific to the way his mind works; he struggles with interesting philosophical dilemmas like that of the individual having too much power, even if that individual is using that power for good."
Interestingly, it seems both Lex and Bruce Wayne will be juggling the same kind of dilemma in their respective heads, which could make for an interesting dynamic between the two. Obviously, when all is said and done, they'll come to very different conclusions.
"Doing this [with Affleck and Cavill] was a lot of fun because the three of us like to improvise, changing dialogue and all. But it was also strange for me: I have a lot of respect for both of them and yet my character mocks them both a lot in the movie. But that was just the nature of the thing."
Batman v Superman opens on March 25.
