Jessica Chastain runs an exclusive high-stakes poker game in 'Molly's Game'
Aaron Sorkin's Molly's Game is based upon Molly Bloom's memoir Molly's Game: From Hollywood's Elite to Wall Street's Billionaire Boys Club, My High-Stakes Adventure in the World of Underground Poker.

Sorkin's adaptation tells the story of how Olympic-hopeful and world class skier Molly Bloom (Jessica Chastain), ultimately ended up becoming the world's biggest 'game runner,' running the most exclusive high stakes poker game for Hollywood elite (e.g. Michael Cera), sports stars, and unbeknownst to her, the Russian mob. As the trailer lets on, Bloom seeks the help of criminal defense lawyer Charlie Jaffey (Idris Elba) after she becomes a person of interest by the FBI.
In a recent interview with EW, Sorkin's research dealt entirely first-person with real life Molly Bloom. Sorkin says: "She’s [Bloom] a really exceptional woman. Strong as an oak tree. She has bit of Wile E. Coyote in her. When she runs into walls, she runs into them full speed, but she has a great deal of integrity. That’s the thing that’s most important thing to her."
Molly's Game marks the directorial debut for the Oscar-winning screenwriter and though Aaron Sorkin is no stranger to film, tv, and theater, Sorkin attributes his debut experience to past collaborations with Directors, David Fincher (Social Network), Mike Nichols (Charlie Wilson's War), Bennett Miller (Moneyball), and Danny Boyle (Steve Jobs).
Idris Elba, Kevin Costner, Michael Cera (Lego Batman), Chris O'Dowd (St. Vincent), Jeremy Strong (The Big Short), Bill Camp (Midnight Special), and Graham Greene (Wind River) co-star. STX Entertainment will distribute.
Molly's Game debuts at September's Toronto International Film Festival and releases nationwide (U.S.) November 22, 2017.
