'Jessica Jones' Director to Helm First Two Episodes of 'The Defenders'
There's little known about Marvel's The Defenders just yet, other than the obvious; it brings together the four (by the time it releases) established Marvel/Netflix heroes to fight off against a leading villain played by Sigourney Weaver. But, now, it has its director for the opening two episodes.
S.J. Clarkson, who directed the first two episodes of Jessica Jones, and has other credits on shows such as Bates Motel, Orange is the New Black, and Dexter, will helm the opening two episodes of The Defenders.
The news follows the announcement that season 2 of Jessica Jones would be directed entirely by women. Now, a woman has been brought on to lead the opening episodes of a major superhero crossover series. It's a good step forward in terms of women playing a role in the industry.
