J.K. Simmons Bluntly Explains Why an Online Petition Won't Get Him Back for New Spider-Man Franchise
One of the most beloved aspects of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy was most definitely J.K. Simmons' portrayal of J. Jonah Jameson, the Daily Bugle editor in chief.
There's even a devoted group of people petitioning online for his return to the new Tom Holland-led Spider-Man solo film, coming next year. During an interview with ET on the red carpet at the Film Independent Spirit Awards, Simmons was quite forward on why the petition won't work:
"That petition does not come from anybody that is in a position to do anything about it." Simmons went on to explain his love for the role and films with Raimi. "Doing those movies with Sam was one of the great joys of my career, and it was a super fun character... so I'll never close the door on anything."
The Amazing Spider-Man franchise never even tried to take on the character, and considering actor revivals in new reboots isn't a new thing (Ryan Reynolds = Deadpool), there's every reason why fans can at least remain a little bit hopeful.
