Johnny Depp to Star in 'Labyrinth,' about the Deaths of Tupac and Biggie Smalls
Johnny Depp has been cast as LA detective Russell Poole in an upcoming film titled Labyrinth. Poole was the detective who invested the unsolved assassinations of rappers Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls.
The film is based on a book by journalist Randall Sullivan titled LAbyrinth. Brad Furman is directing the film from a script by Christian Contreras. Depp, meanwhile, is showing a little more dramatic prowess following last year's Black Mass, as the allure of his more bizarre turns as the Mad Hatter and others is starting to fade.
Poole's theories on the shooting of Shakur, as well as others, are fascinating stuff ripe for filmmaking. The investigator passed away last year from a heart attack.
