Jon Bernthal joins Damien Chazelle's Neil Armstrong biopic 'FIRST MAN'
We have reached a point in Jon Bernthal's career where too much is never enough.
Reps confirm Jon Bernthal will join the star-studded cast of Damien Chazelle's Neil Armstrong biopic First Man. Bernthal joins Ryan Gosling, Kyle Chandler, Corey Stoll, Claire Foy, and Jason Clarke in Universal Pictures biopic based on James Hansen’s biography “First Man: A Life Of Neil A. Armstrong” (2005). Chazelle's adaptation focuses on NASA's mission to land on the moon during 1961-1969 and follows the harrowing events that transpired during NASA's Gemini VIII mission led by Commanding Pilot, Neil Armstrong (Gosling) and Pilot Dave Scott played by Bernthal. This duo is sure to resurrect those much needed True Detective Season 3 memes.
First Man is written by Josh Singer (Spotlight) and is produced by Damien Chazelle and Ryan Gosling. Filming is planned for November and is scheduled for release October 18, 2018.
In the meantime, we'll see Bernthal in Netflix's The Punisher and Steve McQueen's heist drama Widows, starring Viola Davis, Michelle Rodriguez, Carrie Coon, Liam Neeson, and Colin Farrell.
