Joss Whedon Reveals Details on His Next Film
Joss Whedon has gone somewhat off the map in recent times, since his heavily reported departure from Marvel. The filmmaker left social networking in an attempt to focus on his writing, and he's finally got some details for us on his next project.
The Wrap got the word from Whedon during Saturday's inaugural HeForShe Media Summit in Los Angeles. The filmmaker was honoured for his work on behalf of women's rights. Being a voice for gender equality, Whedon's new script seems to reflect his own values and beliefs, and will please those in favour of those same morals.
“It is a story about a girl who goes through some unbelievable s***. And that much is all I can say. It is an original screenplay that is very different from everything I’ve ever done, except for that it’s exactly the same.”
Much of his work of late has delved into sci-fi and superhero regions, though there's no telling what this project will try its hand in. He does hope to finish the script in the coming months... "if I could just get a little more traction on that third-act issue."
“It’s the first time in my life I’m writing without a sort of studio audience rating — without a plan. I’m just writing about something I care about, so it’s a little terrifying and it’s taking a little longer. But I think it will be good!”
While many writing hopefuls would give anything for a studio birth, it makes complete sense that the job would come with its own unique set of stresses. It's promising to hear such optimistic words from the writer, and his next project hopefully reflects his newfound freedom.
