'Justice League' to Address Batman's Violent Tendencies from 'Batman v Superman'
Much in the same way that Batman v Superman addressed Man of Steel's destructive, and overlong, climax, with Batman taking his anger and fear to Superman's doorstep, Justice League is similarly going to confront the backlash that's come from the previous film.
Executive producer Jon Berg spoke with The Washington Journal, teasing that the film will directly reference Bruce Wayne's actions in Dawn of Justice.
“Mistakenly in the past I think the studio has said, ‘Oh, DC films are gritty and dark and that’s what makes them different.’ That couldn’t be more wrong. It’s a hopeful and optimistic view of life. Even Batman has a glimmer of that in him. If he didn’t think he’d make tomorrow better, he’d stop.”
Berg also said the film will aim for a tighter final product, forgoing Zack Snyder's dream sequences and flashbacks. Batman will also be forced to reconcile himself with the poor and violent decisions of recent past.
“We’re trying to take a really hard look at everything to make sure we stay true to the characters and tell stories that celebrate them,” Geoff Johns said. The film opens November 16, 2017.
