Keanu Reeves confirms the title for "John Wick 3"
This just in: Keanu Reeves is good at Latin. Oh, and the official title for "John Wick 3" is John Wick 3: Parabellum - this coming from the man himself!
During an interview for his upcoming thriller Siberia, Reeves confirmed the title for the third ‘John Wick’ installment is John Wick 3: Parabellum.
When asked whether the title was John Wick 3 or Parabellum (not too mention John Wick: Chapter 3 as previously announced at CinemaCon) Reeves told the folks at ComingSoon.net:
❝It's Both! John Wick 3: Parabellum" explaining Parabellum means 'Prepare for war.' It’s part of that famous sentence, 'Si vis pacem, para bellum,' which translates as, 'If you want peace, prepare for war'. ❞
For some reason it's a lot easier reading Keanu's translation rather than Googling the word "Parabellum"
With the official title and Lionsgate’s plot synopsis at play, we know Parabellum will pick up immediately after Winston’s one-hour professional courtesy leaving John without access and privileges to the Continental's underworld resources. While the odds appear slim that our fearless assassin will make it out of the Big Apple unscathed, a part of me wondered how Halle Berry's character would factor into Wick's Parabellum?
As previously reported, Berry is set to join the stacked ensemble in an undisclosed role but is reportedly not the film's main villain according to sources. When ComingSoon.net asked how Berry’s character “enhances” [John] Wick’s character, Reeves shared this interesting nugget:
❝ Yeah, John Wick is fighting for his life and thinks that Halle Berry’s character has some information for him. They have a past, and they get involved with The High Table, this kind of overlording entity. (laughs) ❞
Keyword, “they”.
I guess it's only a matter of time until we find out.
John Wick 3: Parabellum is set to debut in theaters May 17, 2019 (US).
